The Host Venue
The Faculty of Engineering and IT at the University of Technology, Sydney, was pleased to host AaeE 2010. This Faculty at UTS has developed innovative undergraduate and postgraduate programs and strong links with industry. At undergraduate level, the Faculty’s practice-based education focus requires students to experience the reality of engineering internship from an early stage in their professional formation, and it actively relates these experiences to their academic program.
UTS: Engineering, part of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, is one of the largest providers of engineering education in Australia and teaches over 5,000 students, both within Australia and in international locations. It offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and is well known for being internationally focused, for its links with industry and its excellence in teaching.
UTS: Engineering was included in Band A1 for teaching and learning by the Australian Government, contributing to UTS being top-ranked in teaching and learning in the Australian Government's 2008 and 2009 Learning and Teaching Performance Fund. This long-standing commitment to engineering education practice, and interest in engineering education research amongst UTS staff, meant the Faculty was well positioned to host a productive and interesting conference in the area of engineering education.
The conference was held on the UTS City campus, or within walking distance of it — the most accessible campus in New South Wales, located right on the edge of Sydney's cosmopolitan central business district.
